WEST Associates Attend NAWBO Awards Luncheon

NAWBO - RichmondM. H. West & Co., Inc. associates Meaghan West and Erica Cage attended the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) Enterprising Women of Excellence Awards Luncheon & Annual Meeting on June 9th. The event took place at the Jefferson Hotel. Award winners included:

Meaghan and Erica both enjoyed the luncheon and were inspired by the presence of so many motivated and successful women.

Marilyn West Has Accepted a Position on the President’s Council of UNOS

United Network for Organ DonorsM. H. West & Co., Inc.’s CEO, Marilyn West has accepted a position to serve on the President’s Council of UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing). UNOS oversees the national database of clinical transplant information and operates the computerized organ sharing system, matching donated organs to patients registered on the national organ transplant waiting list.  UNOS, through their work, save lives on a daily basis; they are headquartered in Richmond.

Marilyn is honored to have been chosen and feels that serving UNOS will be a deeply rewarding experience.

Coaching Students To Stay In School

While its students look like those from any big-city school district, administrators estimate that about 85% come from families whose income is below the federal poverty line. In addition to getting an education, many of these teens are supporting a child or younger siblings or caring for an elderly relative or sick parent. Some are in foster care, and some are homeless. Others are children of recent immigrants who work long hours and don’t know how to help them thrive academically. (more…)
