Relief Crews Struggle to Reach Haiti Earthquake Victims

Aid officials struggled Friday to rush rescue equipment, food and medical assistance to Haiti, but they faced enormous logistical hurdles as they sought to rescue, feed and treat tens of thousands of trapped or injured Haitians three days after a devastating earthquake.

Food distribution is going “very badly,” said Benoit Thiry, deputy country director of the World Food Program.

A day earlier, his agency had been able to distribute high-energy biscuits to only 1,700 people in Port-au-Prince, a city of 2 million. The group was aiming to reach more than 10,000 people Friday. Read the Entire Article
